What is hojicha?
Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea, typically crafted from the stems and stalks of teas such as bancha or sencha. Created in Japan in the 1920s, it embraces a zero-waste philosophy by making the most of the parts of the tea plant usually discarded. After high-temperature roasting followed by fine milling, it reveals a warm amber-brown colour, with gentle roasted, woody notes of cocoa and hazelnut.
